Prove the wave
Build our first wave maker, then make, film and measure its waves on a private site.
We're creating a wave maker that makes surfable waves on water that's already there, so anyone can have a go at surfing, free. Come and be part of it from the very first wave.

See it in action
Watch how one wave maker makes waves for everyone: experienced surfers ride the open faces, and beginners and families play in the white water.

Why we're doing this
For a wave to turn up, three things have to line up at once. Most days they don't, and plenty of people never get the chance to stand up on a wave at all.
There has to be a wave out at sea, heading your way.
The wind has to be light, or blowing the right way.
The tide has to be right, at a time you can actually get there.
So we're bringing the wave to the water.
Shaun once helped try to build an inland wave pool and found £5 million wasn't nearly enough. Harrison, a lifeguard turned wave physicist, worked out how a wave maker could bring the wave to the water instead. No pool, no concrete: just waves where the water already is.

Everyone who signs up now is part of the story from the very first wave. Here's what you get:
You'll hear about it, and get the chance to take part, before anyone else.
Updates, photos and videos as we build and test the wave maker.
Founding Wave-Makers find out about the first public waves before anyone else.
Ways to help
The plan
01
Build our first wave maker, then make, film and measure its waves on a private site.
02
Bring the wave maker to our first beach, where anyone can turn up, grab a board and have a go.
03
Coastlines and big lakes across the UK, then further afield. Mobile, so nothing permanent is ever built.
Free.
Our partners pay for the waves, so the white water stays free for everyone. Later, premium reef sessions for experienced surfers will help keep it that way.
Good questions
Yes. The white water is free for anyone to play in. Our partners pay for the waves, and later, premium reef sessions for experienced surfers will help keep the free waves free.
Safety comes first. We'll prove the wave on a private site before anyone else gets in, and permits, safety checks and environmental surveys are all part of the plan.
We're getting ready to build and test our first wave maker. Sign up and you'll be among the first to hear when there's a session you can join.
Our first public waves will be at a UK beach. We'll tell Founding Wave-Makers where before anyone else.
It's the first chance for supporters to back the wave maker. It isn't open yet. Founding Wave-Makers get first dibs and hear the details before anyone else. Nothing on this page is an offer or invitation to invest.
No. The wave maker is mobile and nothing permanent is built. When it moves on, the water goes back to how it was.
